🚣 Will Our Cardboard Boat Float?

You've heard about the cardboard beds at the Olympics, how about a cardboard boat...

Hi friend,

Can you imagine floating in a lake in a cardboard boat?

Our favorite event of the year, the Cardboard Boat Regatta, is happening at Lake Anne in Reston this Saturday.

And our real estate team is competing.

That’s right, in between our work with clients, the team has been hard at work with our partners to construct a boat that will hold four of us and help us cruise to victory.

A big shout-out goes to our partners at MG Moving, who provided the cardboard, some engineering know-how, and the labor to create this beauty:

Maybe you're having a hard time imagining this event. Well, here’s a snippet from last year’s event to give you an idea of what it’s like:

Come on out to Lake Anne Plaza in Reston this Saturday, August 10, starting at Noon. We’re a co-sponsor of the event, and we’ll have a tent where we’ll be giving away fun stickers and bubbles for the kids. You’ll also have a chance to win some cool prizes. So come on out and cheer us on!

Plus, we’d love it if you would just stop by the tent to say “Hi!”

No More Frogger in Reston

Graham and Claire were excited about the new overpass on the W&OD Trail that goes over Wiehle Avenue in Reston. If you’ve ever tried to cross the road there when cycling or running on the trail, then you know it was a real game of Frogger. The new overpass is super smooth and makes it so much safer, but it’s a little steep compared to some other overpasses on the trail. Check out Graham’s thoughts below.

You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

Kathy had a real doozy this week when she went to her listing in Sterling to pick up the lockbox and do a walkthrough. Let’s just say the agent on the other side of the transaction had a lot going on, and well, you’ll have to watch to find out what kind of day it was for him. Watch part one below and then come back to click the button below for part two and the end result.

How We Make Listing Videos for “Less Exciting” Homes

A couple of people reached out about the listing video we highlighted last week and asked if we do videos for an “everyday” condo or a more dated home of some kind. Here is an example of a video we did highlighting a recently renovated condo at a reasonable price point. We tried to highlight how fun it would be to live in this condo with a great view and even mountain biking right outside the front door. We helped this homeowner choose cost-effective updates that would add instant value and yield one of the highest prices in the development. Check out the Grahameo (get it, Graham made a cameo…haha) and Kathy’s mountain biking skills!
