Sleeping with the Windows Open?
Are we crazy to be sleeping with our windows open or do you do it too? Also, we tried a Sonoran Hot Dog...
Hi friend,
Boy, was it a scorcher!
We just returned from visiting our daughter in Phoenix, where temperatures are continuing to reach 110 degrees even deep into October. It was too much even for the heartiest locals, who normally expect temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s this time of year.
Dry heat or not, we were happy to land in NoVA, where we’re finally sleeping with the windows open. Of course, Kathy piles the pillows over her head when the birds wake her at 0 Dark Thirty, but it seems worth the tradeoff to get some cool fresh air in the house.
Back to our visit to Phoenix: One of our friends told us to find Nogales’ Food Truck to try a Sonoran Hot Dog. So, Kathy, Claire, and I rode to an industrial part of town where, sure enough, we found the hot dog truck serving locals only a bacon-wrapped hot dot on a fluffy bun topped with pinto beans, onions, tomatoes, and mayo. Needless to say, it was delicious…the locals always know the best spots!
This made us wonder, where would you send visitors to eat here?
Sure, we have many great restaurants, but do we have any authentic local specialties? I guess half-smokes made famous by Ben’s Chili Bowl in D.C., but other than that…?
Your friends,

Do you sleep with the windows open when the weather is nice? |
Is this weird, or what?
Why did this video of a doorbell get five times the views of most videos on our Insta?
Coming Out from Behind the Curtain
So I finally did it. Usually, Kathy is the star (rightly so) of our famous listing videos, but I decided it was time to come out from behind the scenes and co-star with Kathy for our latest listing. While this townhome in Reston had some fantastic updates, we wanted to showcase the lifestyle of being able to walk to restaurants, shops, and the Reston amenities. More than 17,000 people have watched the video and we had more than 30 people attend the open houses during a rainy weekend. So, do you think I have a future alongside Kathy in these listing videos?
The Leap that Says it All
Kathy has worked with Jesse and Sandy for over four years. During that time, their home search was paused and restarted due to the pandemic, getting married, and relocating, but they finally did it. Meet the proud new owners of this adorable home in downtown Berryville, VA. It's just pure happiness as Sandy makes the “we bought a home leap.” Can you tell they’re excited?!
