Reston’s neighborhood centers are getting busier
North Point Village Center is getting a little more active. SWEAT440 opened there last weekend, and paperwork for a new Robeks a few doors down points to the smoothie chain returning to Reston in a new North Reston location. Neither is a huge opening on its own, but together they add more everyday reasons for nearby residents to use one of the main neighborhood centers on the 20194 side of Reston. Take a look at what is changing at North Point and what could be coming next.
If you are looking for something to do Thursday, Community Tai Chi at Hunters Woods Plaza is a nice way to start the day, while families can head to the Udvar-Hazy Center for story time later in the morning. In the evening, the Reston Runners meetup at Reston Town Center is probably the best social option, with a run along the W&OD followed by a first-Thursday social hour.

A major piece of the Isaac Newton Square redevelopment just moved forward. Fairfax County has approved plans for 24 townhomes on Block N3, replacing a previously planned 180-unit multifamily building. The approval completes the four-block first phase, which is now expected to bring roughly 488 new homes to the area north of Reston Station. The latest approval also adds more publicly accessible park space, including a playground, open lawn areas and a new trail along Wiehle Avenue.
After a 16-year-old student was struck by a vehicle near South Lakes High School on Tuesday, crossing guards are temporarily returning to South Lakes and seven other Fairfax County high schools. The student suffered minor injuries, and police said the crash occurred outside a crosswalk and not at a location that previously had a crossing guard, but the incident added urgency to an already heated discussion about pedestrian safety around county high schools.
One of the biggest redevelopment proposals in Reston is headed toward a key vote. Reston Town Center North would remake nearly 48 acres around the Reston Regional Library, North County Governmental Center, Embry Rucker Community Shelter and several Inova properties. Fairfax County's Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote on the plan September 15, so this is one worth keeping an eye on over the next couple of weeks.
North Point Village Center has two new wellness-focused additions taking shape. Sweat440 opened its first Virginia location there on August 29, and a Robeks is planned just a few doors down. The Robeks filing is especially notable because it would mark the smoothie chain's return to Reston after its previous location closed last year.
Reston Station's long-awaited Ebbitt House is getting closer. The Clyde's Restaurant Group concept is now on track for an October opening at Reston Row, bringing a large American grill, oyster bar and cocktail program from the company behind Old Ebbitt Grill. It is one of the most significant restaurant openings still on Reston's 2026 calendar.
A new regional ranking produced an interesting result for our part of Fairfax County. North Reston's 20194 ZIP code ranked No. 24 among Greater Washington's wealthiest ZIP codes, putting it ahead of several communities people might typically associate with higher home prices. Herndon's 20171 ranked No. 34 and Reston's 20190 came in at No. 35. The ranking is based on the concentration of wealth rather than simply home values, which makes Reston's relatively dense, planned-community layout particularly interesting in the results.
