EMPTY OFFICE, NEW NEIGHBORHOOD
An almost-empty 1980s office building on Preston White Dr. (just south of the Toll Road near South Lakes Village) could be replaced by up to 71 four-story townhomes with rooftop decks, garages, and shared green space including a dog park, tot lot, and outdoor kitchen. Just around the corner from the Alexander Bell Drive proposal, it points to a shift from suburban office parks to a more walkable residential pocket near Wiehle Metro. Kick off the weekend Thursday at the Friends of Reston Regional Library Puzzles & Games Sale from 10 AM to 6 PM each day through Sunday and stock up for cozy nights in. On Friday, take a not too spooky stroll at Walker Nature Center’s Halloween House & Trick-or-Treat Trail with cider, characters, and required pre-registration. Saturday is stacked: tour standout Reston homes on the Reston Home Tour, browse handmade finds at UCP’s Fall Art & Craft Fair, and finish with Halloween on the Farm at Frying Pan Farm Park with several session times.
