OLD RESTON HISTORY & FIND YOUR ZEN

Reston is doing that thing again where a random weekday feels interesting. This week, we’ve got a pre-Reston landmark hiding in plain sight on Old Reston Avenue with a surprisingly wild backstory, plus a yoga spot that feels like someone turned “deep exhale” into a place. Then it’s quick hits you’ll want to know and a weekend game plan packed with arts, family fun, and a big night out without leaving town.

PRE-RESTON LANDMARK HITS MARKET

Instagram post

A historic building on Old Reston Avenue is up for sale. It dates back to the 1890s, when it served as the Wiehle Town Hall, with town business downstairs and a church upstairs. After Prohibition, it became a whiskey distillery run by Abram Smith Bowman and, for a time, it was reportedly Virginia’s only legal whiskey distillery. Now the exterior must be preserved, and the next chapter depends on someone’s vision. Click to see its history in more detail!

YOGA SANCTUARY IN RESTON

Instagram post

Beloved Yoga in Reston feels less like a workout studio and more like a full-body reset, built around honoring every “layer” of you: physical, mental, emotional, and social. With everything from beginner and chair classes to Vinyasa, Karma Flow, resistance-band sessions, and add-ons like sound therapy and massage, it’s designed to meet you where you are. Click to see the calm, intentional space and community vibe make it a true sanctuary, not just a class. (And there’s a giveaway!)

Finish strong Saturday night with the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble at the Leila Gordon Theatre, then keep the good vibes going Monday morning with Walker Nature Center’s toddler-friendly Dancing Wind program.
